- acknowledgment (ACK)
- A type of message sent to indicate that a block of data arrived
at its destination without error. See also: Negative Acknowledgment.
- black hole
- A situation, typically caused by an erroneous route or a dead
router, in which transmitted packets disappear. Routing and
forwarding problems for which error messages are generated are not
considered black holes, because the packet's originating node has
some indication that something went wrong.

- A technology which uses low-power radio to replace the wire
connection to the Central Office. A cellular phone may be
stationary or mobile, in which case a handoff between cells occurs,
transparently to the user, as cell boundaries are crossed.
- Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF)
- The signaling method used by Touch-Tone telephones. Each key
generates two tones, the combination of which is unique for each of
the 12 keys.
