The Manning ebook timeline –
Spring 2000 Manning was the first publisher to offer PDF ebooks on new titles as a way to get readers what they need quickly and easily. No longer did customers have to wait for books to go through the printing and distribution process. Our ebooks are sold at the publisher's website months before books arrive on bookstore shelves.
Spring 2005 Manning began to offer ebooks in the ThoutReader (tm) format (TR), developed by OSoft as an open source documentation platform specifically for technical books and other content. ThoutReader allows developers to browse, search, bookmark, append, print, and expand key concepts from one common interface.
